HENRY VAN DER LINDEN, age 75, of Luverne, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. He was born November 30, 1936, in Sioux Center, IA, to Leendert and Johanna (DeGroot) Van Der Linden. He attended country school near Sioux Center, IA.
Henry married Lucille DeBoer on July 5, 1957, in Sanborn, IA. After their marriage, the couple lived in northwestern Iowa. In 1968, they moved to southwestern Minnesota. They moved to California in 1972 where Henry worked as the Head Maintenance person at Triangle Grain. In 1976, they moved to the Rushmore area where they farmed. In 1978, they moved to Slayton. They moved to Leota in 1998 where Henry drove truck. In 2010, they moved to Luverne.
He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. He enjoyed camping, fishing, farming, playing cards & games and especially spending time with his family.
Henry is survived by his wife, Lucille Van Der Linden, Luverne; six children, Robert (Jodie) Van Der Linden, Chandler; Diane Van Der Linden, Eldora, IA; Laura (friend, Duane Duis) Van Der Linden, Granite Falls; Donald (Rebecca) Van Der Linden, Worthington; Michael (Laura) Van Der Linden, State Center, IA; and Ronald (Stephanie) Van Der Linden, Edgerton; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two brothers, Alburtus (Polly) Van Der Linden, Worthington; and Adrian Van Der Linden, Hull, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Daniel, in 2010; two brothers, William & John Van Der Linden; and a sister, Leona Rich.
Funeral will be 2 PM Wednesday, with visitation one hour prior , at the Christian Reformed Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Roger Sparks. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
