Obituary

HERLUF C. JENSEN, age 90, of Stillwater, formerly of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014, with his family around him at The Gathering in Oak Park Heights.  He was born July 1, 1923, in Tyler to Jens and Dorthea (Jeppesen) Jensen.  He graduated from Tyler High School in 1941 and Western Air College in 1942.  Herluf served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

Herluf married Mabel Kannengiesser on October 19, 1946.  Together they raised two daughters and a son.  He spent his career farming near Fulda, MN.  In 1988 they moved to Worthington to enjoy retirement.  Herluf was a very active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church serving as Elder and Deacon.  He enjoyed singing in the church choir. He and Mabel enjoyed traveling in the 50 states and abroad.  One of their most memorable trips was to the Holy Land.  Herluf was an active member of Golden K Kiwanis.  He also volunteered for many organizations including his church, Meals on Wheels and Red Cross Blood Courier Service.  He also spent countless hours bringing cheer to residents in the local nursing homes.  Herluf really enjoyed woodworking and would make beautiful lamps and vases.  He also loved photography and picture framing as well as gardening.  He moved to Boutwells Landing in Stillwater in 2011.  Herluf was very involved in activities in his new home and really enjoyed time with his family that lived in the area. He was very active and enjoyed long walks on the paths around his home.  Herluf was a very kind compassionate and giving man who was loved by everyone who knew him. He touched so many lives and truly loved getting to know everyone.

He is survived by his daughters Marie (Charlie) Goebel, Stillwater and Sharyl (Greg) Zeno, Rosemount; his sister Alma, St Paul; eight grandchildren, Bridget (Todd) Edwards, Matthew Jensen, Anna (Charlie) Hains, Alexander Zeno, Nicholas (Christina) Goebel, Michael Goebel, Thomas (Annette) Koelndorfer and John Koelndorfer; eleven great-grandchildren, Samantha and Brandon Edwards, Charlie, Alex, Ari, Aaron and Carter Hains, Jackson and Charles Goebel,  Thaleia and Alithea Koelndorfer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel, his parents, his son Lloyd, his sisters Ingrid, Thora and Elin, his brother Alfred and his nephew Henry.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Friday April 25 at Dingmann Funeral Home, Worthington MN  with visitation one hour prior.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Saturday April 26 in the Swanson Memorial Chapel at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights, MN with visitation one hour prior.
