IRENE C. HENSEN, age 81, of Adrian, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester. She was born January 22, 1925, on a farm in Westside Township, Nobles County, to William and Mamie (Nelson) Johnson. Irene attended country school and later graduated from Adrian High School in 1943. She worked as a waitress in Adrian; a nanny in Palm Beach, Florida; returned toAdrian and worked at Hensen Electric. Irene married Leo Hensen on September 27, 1948, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Adrian where Irene devoted all of her time to her husband and five children. Leo died on January 30, 1991. Irene lived in Adrian until 2000 when she moved to Hutchinson, and then to New Ulm in 2005 to be closer to her family. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Adrian Choir. Irene enjoyed music, crafts, reading and sewing. She especially loved the special times with family. Irene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Mary Hensen, Windom; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bob Missling, Springfield; Julie and Steve Evans, Rochester; and Cheryl and Bradd Mielke, Sleepy Eye; son-in-law, Tom Konkel and wife Mary, North Oaks; five grandchildren, Erin (Sean) Sawyer, Amanda Konkel, and Max, Connor and Carter Evans; a great grandson, Jacob Sawyer; twin sister, Inez Stomberg, Austin; and a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Johnson, Adrian. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; daughter, Linda Konkel; sister, Dorothy Boltjes; brother, Alvin Johnson; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Boltjes and Eldon Stomberg.
