Obituary

IRIS LESTER, age 91, of Worthington, died Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Worthington Regional Hospital. She was born June 10, 1916, in Galt, IA, to John and Hattie (Campbell) Boyington. At the age of one, Iris moved with her family to Clarion, IA. She attended school and graduated from Clarion High School. After graduation, she worked in Perkins Varity Store, in Clarion, for one year. Iris then worked at the First National Bank as a teller. Iris married J. Marion Lester on May 11, 1941. After their marriage, the couple lived in Eagle Grove, IA until Marion was drafted into the service in 1942. Iris moved back to Clarion and continued working at the bank. After Marion returned from the service, the couple moved to a farm near Rushmore. While living in Rushmore, Iris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over fifty years where she taught Sunday School. The couple retired and began spending their winters in Mesa, AZ and their summers in Worthington. In 1999, they moved to the Meadows Retirement Facility. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Worthington; and a former active member of the Rushmore Booster Club. Iris loved to write poetry and had several pieces published. Iris is survived by her four children, Sally (Gary) Hibma, Brewster; Pat (Paul) Espeset, Rochester; Peg (Stuart) Lewis, Lewisville; and Roger (Clasine) Lester, Worthington; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Avis Hill, Clarion, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. Marion, on February 20, 2006; and two brothers, Rex & Max Boyington
