JAMIE LEE VONSPREECKEN, age 39, of Sioux Falls, SD; formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his parent's home in Worthington after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 19, 1977, in Worthington, to Larry and Bonnie (Fuson) VonSpreecken. Jamie graduated from Worthington High School in 1995. While in high school, he worked at Perkins. He attended college at Worthington Community College; and later in Mankato, where he worked at Applebee's. Jamie moved to Brookings, SD and worked at The Pavilion. He later moved to Sioux Falls, SD; where he worked as a machine operator at Berry Plastics.
He was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Jamie was an avid sports fan. He was known as "Mr. ESPN". He played hockey, in Worthington, from first grade until he graduated. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and the Minnesota Twins, Gophers, Wild and the Vikings.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Jim Mills, Worthington, MN; sister, Jennifer (Todd) Schuur, Brooklyn, IA; and their children Tyler and Jessica; two step brothers, Josh (Andrea) Mills, Ripon, WI; and their children Isaac and Erika; John (Lindsay) Mills, Norwalk, IA; and their children, Austin and Eli step sister, Kaye Mills, St. Paul, MN; Uncles & Aunts, Nancy (Greg) Burdett, Palm Bay, FL; and their children, Eric and Shannon, Gale (Lisa) VonSpreecken, Plano, TX; and their children Jonathon and Justin, Donna (Ron) Schueler, Willmar; and their children, Jordan and Shane, Peggy (Tom) Faran, Myrtle Beach, SC; and their daughter, Katrina and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry; and his grandparents.
Memorials will be given Sanford Worthington Hospice.
