Obituary

JANET L. DeLEEUW, age 76, of Ellsworth, died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Sanford Hospice Cottage, Luverne. She was born January 4, 1933, in George, IA, to Harm and Gertrude (Krahling) Eilders. She graduated from George Public High School in George, IA. Janet married Edgar DeLeeuw on January 10, 1951, at the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, in rural George, IA. They farmed in the Newkirk, IA, area for several years and then moved to Loveland, CO. In 1963, they moved to a farm east of Ellsworth. They retired from farming in 1997. Janet worked as a cook at the Arnold Memorial Nursing Home and at the Ellsworth Public Schools. Edgar died on December 3, 2002. Janet moved into Ellsworth in 2005. She became a resident of the Sanford Hospice Cottage on January 23, 2009. She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth; and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and loved spending time with the grand kids and great grandchildren and wintering in Weslaco, TX. Janet is survived by her four children, Alan DeLeeuw, Ellsworth; Gerald (MaryJane) DeLeeuw, Kandiyohi; Diane (Wayne) Schweitzer, Ellsworth; and Sandra (Glenn) Klingenberg, Edgerton; thirteen grandchildren, Shane (Melinda) DeLeeuw, Melissa (Jim) Van Holland, Heather (Micah) Freese, Laci (Jamie) Meinerts, Nicole (Brandon) Wiley, Sarah (Jim) Nevin, Justin (Courtney) DeLeeuw, Nathan DeLeeuw, Kristin (Ryan) Jurrens, Katie (Craig) Korthals, Gene (Kayla Klingenberg, Cory (Heidi) Klingenberg and Erin (fianc?e, Matt Post) Klingenberg; thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Arvin (Virginia) Eilders, Kansas; Richard (Jan) Eilders, Springfield, MN; and Robert Eilders, Arizona; sister, Joan (Harlan) Boer, Hospers, IA; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Kruger, George, IA; and Alvin Lamfers, Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edgar; and two sisters, Ruth Lamfers & Byrla Kruger.
