JENNIE ZEIGLER, age 98, of Worthington, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Sanford Worthington Regional Hospital. She was born December 5, 1913 on the family farm near George, IA, the daughter of Webo and Elizabeth (Boomgaarden) Jansen. She enjoyed the farm life, growing up with three brothers and 2 sisters, cheerfully sharing the chores of tending to the animals and crops. She went to a rural one room school near their home, graduating from the eighth grade. She and her family were active members of the Hope Reformed Church of rural George, IA.
Jennie was united in marriage to George Zeigler on March 17, 1939 on the family farmstead. They had one son Gaylin James Zeigler, they enjoyed traveling to many parts of the United States. They lived and worked at many places in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. Jennie has resided in Worthington since the 1960's. She worked at Crossroads Nursing Home for several years until her retirement.
Jennie was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Worthington. She lived on McMillan Street for over 40 years where she enjoyed collecting small blue knick knacks and miniature teapots and visiting with neighbors and family.
She is survived by her son Gaylin Zeigler and his wife Shirley as well as nieces and nephews.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Anna, Mrs. John Klaahsen and Amanda, Mrs. Pete Hollander, three brothers, Jacob Jansen, Henry Jansen and Everett Jansen.
