January 14, 1936 – May 8, 2024
JENOLA RAE BAUERMEISTER-UDEN, age 88, passed away on Wednesday May 8th, 2024 at Sanford Worthington Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Jenola was born January 14,1936, the daughter of John and Louise (Dilly) Dammer of Ocheyedan Ia. She attend Ocheyedan High School where she was active in choir, band and basketball. She enjoyed playing trumpet and piano and also loved to write songs and lyrics. She worked at the local cafe, babysat and cleaned houses.
Jenola married her love Delmar Bauermeister on June 5th 1954. They were then blessed with three children, Randy, LeAnn and Rick. They moved to Worthington in 1964 where she worked at Swanson's Grocery and Hy-Vee. She was known as "Jo" and enjoyed checking out her customers always with a smile.
Jenola and Delmar enjoyed camping in their trailer, traveling to many places across the US, playing cards, bunco and spending time with their family and friends. Their favorite thing to do was go to the Coliseum dancing. Delmar passed away November 8th, 2003. Later she married Melvin Uden and lived in Ocheyedan where they enjoyed traveling and spending time together.
The most important thing to Jenola was her family and spending time with them. A devoted mother and grandmother, "Grandma Jo" will be missed by her family.
Jenola is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Bauermeister, Melvin Uden; parents, John and Louise Dammer; brothers John, Roger and Gary; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bauermeister; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins
. Jenola is survived by son, Randy Bauermeister (Chris) Heron Lake; daughter, LeAnn Donovan (Kevin), Worthington; and Rick Bauermeister (Belan), Heron Lake; sister-in-law, Kay Dammer, Sioux Falls; Grandkids, Angela Drent (Brian), Nicolle DeRocher (Corey), Heather Hansen (Tim), Erick Bauermeister; Great grandkids, Taylor, Tori, Hailey, Hannah, Haidynn, Dailey, Andie and Bo; Step Grandkids; Angel, Ania and Annebel.
Jenola loved life and her family. Her most recent comment was, "I've had a great life, great husbands, great kids and grandkids, great trips and great friends. What more could I ask for".
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, May 13 at the First United Methodist Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor daren Flink. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Ocheyedan Cemetery in Ocheyedan, IA.
