Obituary

JERRY DEAN KLOSTERBUER, age 71, of Luverne, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Sanford Hospital in Luverne. He was born December 13, 1936, in Luverne, to Walter and Mildred (Hansen) Klosterbuer. Jerry was raised on a farm near Ash Creek. He received his education at District #1. He was a 4-H member and won a State Fair Trip with his hog. As a young man, he sang in the church choir and at many weddings. Jerry married Dorothy Rieder on March 21, 1959 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple moved to a farm near Ellsworth. In 1973, the family moved their present home in rural Luverne. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Luverne; and he served on several county & church boards. His love of music lasted his whole life. Jerry loved to race go-carts, snowmobiles & ice racing, as well as being an avid tractor puller, winning a State Contest in 1966. Give Jerry a motor and he was happy. Over the years, he restored cars & many tractors which took him on many adventures. As a young man, he was chosen Rock County?s Outstanding Young Farmer. Jerry has won many awards & trophies in his lifetime but the highest award to him was his family & friends which he loved very much. He enjoyed US history, especially WWII history. He loved the land and was a farmer plain & simple, to the end. Jerry is survived by his wife, Dorothy Klosterbuer, rural Luverne; five children and their spouses, Perry Klosterbuer, Tea, SD; Guy (Dawn) Klosterbuer, Hills; Stacey & Travis Taylor, Coon Rapids; James & Tashia Klosterbuer, Luverne; and Melissa & Jeff Fick, Ellsworth; nine grandchildren, Christa Klosterbuer, Jessie (Ross) Koppen, Brandyn Klosterbuer, Holli (Jeremy) Siebenahler, Austen Klosterbuer, Morgan Mulford, Ashley Siebenahler, Meranda Fick & Payton Fick; five great grandchildren, Brenn Siebenahler, Terran Siebenahler, Josephyne ?Josie? Klosterbuer, Ellynor ?Ellie? Klosterbuer & Jamesyn Klosterbuer; two brothers, Duane (Janice) Klosterbuer, Steen; and Bob (Lee) Klosterbuer, Steen; a sister, Carol (Henry) Zwaan, Steen; and many cousins, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.
