JOAN GRACE JOHNSON, age 85, of Worthington, died Friday, August 28, 2026, at The Meadows. She was born November 24, 1940, in Cottonwood County, to Albert and Grace (LaMaack) Stoever. She attended school in Heron Lake before graduating from Westbrook High School.

   Joan married Melvin Johnson on November 23, 1974, at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. The couple lived in Worthington. Joan worked at Nystrom-Shellane Gas Co., in Worthington, before she began her career as an insurance saleswoman. She sold insurance at Community First Bank and later at United Prairie Bank before retiring in 2013.

   She was a member of American Lutheran Church; and the Esther Circle in Worthington. She enjoyed reading, flowers and playing cards. Joan was a dedicated sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed deeply and remembered for her infectious laugh and beautiful smile.

   Joan is survived by her husband, Melvin Johnson, Worthington; daughter, Susan (Dan) Weber, Sauk Rapids; two grandsons, Lucas and Gavin Weber; brother, Glen (Sue) Stoever, Shakopee; sister, Barb (Jim) Williams, Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Dick (Joan) Johnson; and many nieces & nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Robert (Wilma) Stoever; and Russel (Barb) Stoever.

   A time of fellowship will be from 9:30 to 11 am Saturday, Sept. 26 at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Memorial service will be 11 am Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
