JOAN MARIE TAYLOR, age 78, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was born May 11, 1935, in Adrian, to Floyd and Alma (Wieneke) Madison. She graduated from St. Adrian Catholic School; and later worked in the Dietary Department at St. Mary Hospital in Rochester.
Joan married Jim Taylor on September 22, 1955, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. After their marriage, the couple lived in Adrian for a few years before moving to the farm west of Adrian. While living there Joan worked at Campbells Soup for many years. In 1965, they moved to the current farm between Adrian and Ellsworth.
She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Ellsworth, where she spent many hours volunteering; Joan was also a member of the St. Mary Council of Catholic Women; the St. Mary Quilters; and former member of the Ellsworth School Board. She enjoyed playing pinochle, square dancing, camping, canning, cooking, gardening, crocheting & sewing.
Joan is survived by her husband, Jim Taylor, rural Ellsworth; four sons, Mike (Terri) Taylor, Adrian; Randy (Anita) Taylor, Rock Valley, IA; Roger (Rachele) Taylor Lakeville; and Bruce (Kathy) Taylor, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Donna Taylor, Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, Austin Taylor, Matt Taylor, Nate Taylor, Maria Taylor, Shannon (Dweezle) Bordeaux, Brad Taylor, Sam Taylor & Andrew Taylor; four great grandchildren, Ella, Olivia, Mason & Jenna Bordeaux; five brothers, Edward Madison, Le Sueur; LeRoy (Alverna) Madison, Wilmont; Morris (Brenda) Madison, Aurora, CO; Gary (Karen) Madison, Adrian; and Earl (Marilyn) Madison, rural Adrian; four sisters, twin sister Joyce (Phil) Faragher, Worthington; Rita (Dick) Becker, Henderson, NV; Dianne (Joe) Beckmann, Wilmont; and Margaret Pick, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Noah Taylor, in 2003; two sisters, Janet Madison and Agnes Beckmann; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Beckmann and Jerry Pick.
