JOHN E. JOHNSON, age 93, of Rushmore, died, Thursday, January 19, 2012 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. He born March 8, 1918 in Dewald Township, Nobles County, MN; to parents Harm and Kate (Lupkes) Johnson. He attended school in Rushmore and after his schooling he farmed with his family in Dewald Township.
John moved with his family in 1952 to Rushmore and he worked for Dewald Township as a grader doing road maintenance for 16 years. He then worked with small engines and serviced lawn mowers. John enjoyed tinkering and inventing different items and always had everything in place. He liked things clean and organized.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Wesley Ashbaugh, Rushmore and numerous cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Simon, Aielt and Harm Johnson and sisters, Fanny Oltmans, Katheryn Ashbaugh and an infant sister.
