JOHN ?Bud? DUANE MEINDERS, age 88, of rural Rushmore, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Sunset Cottage in Worthington. He was born July 13, 1921 in Summit Township, MN; to parents Jacob and Janna (Brummer) Meinders. Bud was united in marriage to Gertrude Ponto on March 1, 1943 at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, MN. After their marriage they farmed north of Rushmore. He was a Deacon and an Usher of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading and was also an Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge in Worthington. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, card playing and dancing. Bud is survived by his children; John (Debra) Meinders, Eagan, MN; and Gloria (Earl) Leidner, Lakeville, MN; five grandchildren, Susanne Leidner (Bruce) Heimerl, Michele (Matt) Sargent, Cynthia Meyer, Julia Meinders and Daniel Meinders; four great grandchildren, Joseph Heimerl, Tyler Heimerl, McKenna Meyer and Madeleine Sargent; He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, on April 26, 2009, parents, and his siblings; (brothers) Ben Meinders, Heink Meinders, Marvin Meinders, Frank Meinders, Les Meinders, Johnny Meinders; (sisters) Connie Jeffrey, Charlotte Benz, Ruby Siemonsma, Jean Skold. A time of fellowship will be Thursday from 5:00 ? 8:00 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A memorial service will be Friday at 11 am at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading with Pastor Robert Raedeke officiating.
