JOSEPH GEORGE HENNING, age 67, of Adrian, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born August 20, 1951, in Adrian, to LaVerne and Rosalia (Reining) Henning. Joe grew up in the Adrian area and graduated from St. Adrian High School. He attended Pipestone Vocational School in 1969 to study small engines and automotive repair. Joe was drafted into the United States Army in 1970 and served his country for his term. He farmed for eight years then went to work for Campbell's Soup Co. in Worthington. Joe became medically disabled in 1991. When he was medically stable, he and his wife, Vicki (Staples) Henning started a home daycare business which they still continue.
He loved kids, gardening, cooking and fishing. Joe loved life and he lived life the best way he could, HIS WAY!
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Henning, Adrian; daughter, Shantelle (Dustin) Hagfors, Wanamingo; son, Trey (Kaylee) Henning, Lennox, SD; four granddaughters, Jayda, Teagan, Alexis, and Ava; mother, Rosalia Henning, Adrian; three brothers, Kenny (fiancée, Laurel) Henning, Detroit Lakes; Tom (Carrie) Henning, Lismore; and Andy (Sara) Henning, Adrian; six sisters, Linda (Tom) Mulder, Osakis; Cathy (Bruce) Mulder, Luverne; Susie (Steve) Bullerman, Adrian; Maureen Krogstad, Fargo, ND; Beth (Curt) Vander Veen, Ocheyedan, IA; and Nancy (Lance) Becker, Adrian; many nieces & nephews; and grand pup, Haze.
He was preceded in death by his father, Laverne Henning; brother, LaVerne Henning Jr.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Lillian Staples.
A Memorial Mass will be 9 am Saturday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti, a time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial with full Military Honors provided by the Adrian American Legion will be in the Adrian Cemetery.
Dingmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Adrian, is in charge of arrangements.
