JOY EDWARD MEYER, age 86, of Luverne, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home, in Ellsworth. He was born December 12, 1920, in Kanaranzi Township, rural Rock County, to Ralph and Vivienne (Hocking) Meyer. Joy graduated from Magnolia High School in 1939. He later attended business school in Mankato. After college, Joy worked for the Civilian Construction Core for two years. He then moved to the farm. In 1950, he began working in Luverne as a carpenter. He worked for UBC for twenty years. Joy later worked construction before retiring in 1983. He became a resident of the Parkview Manor Nursing Home, in Ellsworth, in April of 2005. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Luverne. He enjoyed reading & music. Joy is survived by his seven siblings, Pauline Hogue, Luverne; Betty Iveland, Luverne; Dick Meyer, Luverne; Dorothy Sherburne, Topeka, KS; Maxine (Doug) Prahm, Slayton; Eugene (Rosemary) Meyer, Wilmer; and Marilyn (Ron) Munns, Sun City, AZ; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert & Dallas Meyer.
