JUDITH "JUDY" WAAGMEESTER, age 72, of Luverne, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born January 24, 1942, in Canova, SD, to Orville and Eva (Duxbury) Nitz. She graduated from Canova High School; and later from the Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, SD.
Judy married Dale Waagmeester on November 26, 1962, in Pipestone, MN. After their marriage, the couple moved to Luverne where they lived all of their married lives.
She worked at the Luverne Community Hospital as a nurse for over thirty years. When she retired in 2004 she enjoyed going on trips with Prime Timers Travel Club, Red Hat Society, Saturday night card club and volunteering for many organizations in the community.
Judy is lovingly survived by her mother, Eva Breneman, Brandon, SD; two daughters, Lisa Waagmeester, Sioux Falls, SD; and Amy Loger, Brandon, SD; a granddaughter, Megan Loger; and three brothers, Warren Nitz, Las Vegas, NV; Jerry Nitz, Rapid City, SD; and Steve Nitz, Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her father Orville; husband, Dale; brother, John; and a sister-in-law, Riki.
A memorial service will be 11 am Saturday, with a time of fellowship one hour prior, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth.
