JULIA AMANDA SKYBERG, age 90, of Luverne, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. She was born December 29, 1919, in rural Rock County, to Jens R. and Anna (Benson) Jensen. Jens Hellevand & Anna Slogedal emigrated together from Norway. Julia was proud of her Norwegian heritage and spoke fluent Norwegian. Julia graduated from Luverne High School and later graduated from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD, with a degree in bookkeeping. Julia lived in New York for a short while where she worked at a department store. She then worked in the office at Willers Trucking in Sioux Falls, SD. Julia married Oliver Skyberg on December 22, 1943, in Dakota City, NE. The couple lived in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1946, the family moved to Luverne where Julia worked at the Rock County Bank as a bookkeeper. She later worked at RSVP, in Luverne, for over ten years where she scheduled the Heartland Express. Julia became a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in December of 1994. She was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church, in Luverne; and later, Grace Lutheran Church. Julia was a caregiver for her family & friends. She enjoyed canning, cooking, gardening, hanging clothes, camping and spending time with her family especially during the holidays. Julia is survived by her eleven children, Eunice (Donald) Wynn, Mounds View; Edith (Butch) Else, Alexandria; Donald (Pat) Skyberg, Malcom, IA; David (Beverly) Skyberg, Fargo, ND; Jim Skyberg, Dell Rapids, SD; Steven (Deborah) Skyberg, Dilworth; Dale Skyberg, Casper, WY; Donna (John) O?Donnell, Ellsworth; Janis Otterson, LeMars, IA; Greg (Debrah) Skyberg, Kailua-Kona, HI; and Kent (Jennifer) Skyberg, Sioux Falls, SD; 29 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and a sister, Sylvia Salvesen, Monroe, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver, on January 4, 1995; son, Robert, in 1968; daughter, Delores Petty Walters, in 1990; great granddaughter Taylor Skala in 1995; great granddaughter Madison Tesch in 2003; granddaughter, Georgia Hagedorn, in 2009; son-in-law, Paul Otterson, in 2010; two brothers, Ralph & Erling Jensen; and a sister, Esther Hunt.
