Obituary

KATHERINE "KATIE" VOSBERG, age 95, of Worthington, died Friday, December 4, 2020, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. She was born February 14, 1925 on a farm in the Township of Iona, MN. She was the daughter of Evert and Gertrude (Sikking) Van Dunkerken. Katie was baptized March 3, 1940, and confirmed at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN. She attended country school by Avoca, MN, Avoca grade school and high school in Slayton, MN.

Katie was united in marriage to Raymond C. Vosberg on February 21, 1943 at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN Katie was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She also taught Sunday school and Release Time classes for a number of years at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Katie partook in church ladies aide, where she was their coffee maker. She liked to fish, hunt, play bingo and cook for family gatherings.

Katie is survived by her three daughters, Janice Pawelec, Naples, FL; Kathy (Jerry) Marco, Big Stone City, SD; and Debra (Richard) Staples, Slayton, MN; nine grandchildren, Holli (Pierre) Peebles, Deven Harberts, Jana Harberts, Heidi (Jarett) Hanten, April Downey, Robin (Larry) Ober, Patrick (Monica) Staples, Anthony Staples and Timothy (Andrea) Staples; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jarene, Paige, Peyton, Piper, Jessica (Brandon), Nicholas (Kayla), Heather, Levi, Eliza, Tyler, Cody (Morgan), Jerome, Andrea, Tanner and Chandler; six great-great-grandchildren, Arielle, Makenzie, Blake, Hudson, Anna Faye and Lauryn; and two sisters, Irene Jasperson, Madison Lake, MN; and Evelyn Jordt, Sibley, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond on October 2, 1981; an infant son, Jerome on September 27, 1943; two brothers, Everett and Peter Van Dunkerken; and eight sisters, Jenny Heinrichs, Hattie Biegler, Jeanette Griffith, Gertrude Ray, Wilhelmina Sexton, Johanna Habbena, Mary Smith and Gladyce Duinkerken.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond on October 2, 1981; an infant son, Jerome on September 27, 1943; two brothers, Everett and Peter Van Duinkerken; eight sisters, Jenny Heinrichs, Hattie Biegler, Jeanette Griffith, Gertrude Ray, Wilhelmina Sexton, Johanna Habbena, Mary Smith and Gladyce Duinkerken; mother and father-in-law, Herman (Dora) Vosberg; and four sisters-in-law, Viola Kilker, Lucille Preuss, Mildred Oldham and Gladys Anderson.

A private family service will take place Wednesday at 2 pm officiated by Pastor Anne Hokenstad. A public celebration of Katie's life will take place at a later date at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington.

Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is in charge of arrangements.
