KATHLEEN LOUISE SMITH, age 76, of Wilmont, died Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born March 7, 1947, in Sacred Heart, to Arnold and Adeline (Carstensen) Bell. She attended Wilmont Public School before graduating from Worthington High School in 1965.

Kathy married Lee Smith on September 9, 1967, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. The couple farmed north of Wilmont. Kathy also worked at the Wilmont Café and was an Avon Lady.

She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmont; and a current of the Iona Presbyterian Church. She volunteered for the Red Cross in their blood drives and she enjoyed cooking & baking.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Lee Smith, Wilmont; two daughters, Trisha (Kerry Zinnel) Smith, Wilmont; and LeeAnn (Eric) Sipress, Forest City, IA; five grandchildren, Ashlee (Jake) Buntjer, Brett (Emily Krumvieda) Steffen, Jordan (Spencer Thilges) Smith, Lizzy Sipress and Nate Sipress; three great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Emily and Braylee; and one on the way; a sister, Nancy Vaske, Wilmont; and a brother, Vernon (Carol) Bell, Big Stone City, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kurt on August 15, 2021; an infant son, Joshua Lee Smith; three brothers, Gary, Richard and Daryl Bell; and a sister, Deb Bell.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday November 30 at the Solid Rock Assembly Church in Worthington; visitation also from 9:15 to 10:15 am Friday at the church. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at the Solid Rock Assembly Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Deb Klaassen. Burial will be in the Wilmont Cemetery.
