KENNETH EUGENE WHITE, age 81, a lifetime resident of Worthington, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born July 24, 1934, in Worthington, to Fred and Amanda (Brinkhous) White. He attended school and graduated from Worthington High School.
Ken married his classmate, Lorene Roos on May 8, 1955. The couple lived in Worthington all of their married lives. Ken worked at Bedford Industries, in Worthington for over twenty nine years. He retired in 1997.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, where he had served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee. Ken was also a member of the Southwest Bow Benders in Worthington. He loved the outdoors. Ken shared many good times hunting, fishing and camping with his sons and their families. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and doing taxidermy. Ken loved spending time with his grandkids, painting birdhouses and many other projects they could do together. He was the neighborhood repairman.
Ken is survived by his wife, Lorene White, Worthington; three sons, Steve (Alice) White, Worthington; Brian (Jean) White, Mankato; and Craig (Becky) White, Brandon, SD; five grandchildren, Christine & Cassandra White, Shaleigh, Madison and Riley White; two step grandsons, Jacob (Jiwoo) Tjaden, St. Paul; and Jeremy (Aspen Heib) Tjaden, Minneapolis; two great granddaughters, Ella & Lyla Tjaden; and a brother, Ronald White, Ellsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey White, in 1973; and three brothers, Bill, Bob & Jerry White.
Visitation will be from 1-3 pm Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, in Rushmore, officiated by Pastor Dan Dettman. Burial will be at the Worthington Garden of Memories Cemetery.
