KENNETH BAKKEN, age 83, of Luverne, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. He was born January 5, 1927, in Sharon, ND, to Arthur and Gilma (Kileen) Bakken. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. Ken married Betty Roy on July 14, 1957, in Wahpeton, ND. After their marriage, the couple lived in Wahpeton, ND where Ken worked at Ottertail Power Company for over thirty eight years. He had worked as First Operator at Big Stone Power Plant before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Brandon Valley Assembly of God Church in Brandon, SD; and a lifetime member of the Brandon VFW. He enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling & fishing. Ken is survived by his wife, Betty Bakken, Luverne; seven children, Michael (Carla) Bakken, Garden City, KS; Marjorie (Larry) Moe, Orange, CA; Jane (Kenneth) Andreoff, St. Peter; Larry (Margo) Bakken, Milford, MA; Mary Wing, Garretson, SD; Barry (Gena) Bakken, Brandon, SD; and Sherri Steenstra, Jasper; twenty five grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. He has a special connection with his granddaughter, Trinity. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Serenity Angel Bakken, in 2003; great granddaughter, Victoria Jane Moe, in 2004; and two brothers, Vernon & Minard Bakken.
