KRISTINA ?TINA? MARIA MARTINEZ, age 31, of Marshall, formerly of Hardwick, died Friday, January 29, 2010, after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. She was born March 31, 1978, in Luverne, to Doug and Virginia ?Ginny? (Heckt) Wessels. Tina graduated from Luverne High School in 1996. She graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University, in Marshall, in 2001, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Public Relations. Tina married Adrian Martinez on August 9, 2003, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. After their marriage, Tina & Adrian lived in Marshall where Tina worked at The Schwan Food Company. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall; and the United Way, where she served as a former Co-Chairperson. She enjoyed photography, reading, watching sports, games, vacationing on the North Shore of Lake Superior, her dog, Milo & especially spending time with her nieces & nephews. Tina is survived by her husband, Adrian Martinez, Marshall; parents, Doug & Ginny Wessels, Hardwick; sister, Amy (Gary) Ptak, Sioux Falls, SD; father & mother-in-law, Jesse & Lori Martinez, Sacred Heart; two brothers-in-law, Jaime (Jessica) Martinez, Willmar; and Nathan Martinez, Sacred Heart; sister-in-law, Alicia Martinez, Sacred Heart; and nieces & nephews, Ryan, Justin & Keira Ptak; and Gabrielle Martinez. She was preceded in death by her paternal & maternal grandparents. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday, with parish prayers at 4:30, at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Thomas Jennings. A private family burial will be later at Maplewood Cemetery, in Luverne.
