LANG KIM NGUYEN , age 73, of Worthington, died Sunday, November 13, 2016, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. After a four year battle with stage four lung cancer. He was born December 20, 1942 to Giang Nguyen and Buu Huynh in Binh Dinh, Vietnam. Lang attended Cuong De High School until the 10th grade. He then served in the South Vietnamese Army four years.
Lang was united in marriage to Anna Nguyen on October 20, 1971. They made their home in Vietnam and he was engaged in farming. Lang moved his family to America in December 1991. They made their first home in Sioux Falls, SD; before moving to Worthington in 1992. After moving to Worthington he worked for the Swift Company for twelve years until his retirement.
Lang was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to music, playing his guitar, singing karaoke, taking walks and collecting knickknacks.
He is survived by his wife Anna Nguyen, Worthington; children, Rose (Tha) Tran, Sioux Falls; Julie (Thong) Nguyen, Seattle; Them (Josh) Van Duyn, Sioux Falls; Thuong (Derek) Berning, Worthington; and Catalina Nguyen, Worthington; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Cecelia, Shaina, Mary, Joseph, Sueny, Lana, baby Van Duyn and Faith; siblings, Nho, Quy Nhon, Vietnam; Hoc, Buffalo, NY; Long, Baltimore, MD; Minh, Gia Lai, Vietnam; and Loan, Gia Lai, Vietnam.
Lang was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Thu Nguyen in 1989, and his six brothers.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. James Callahan & Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be at the St. Michael Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
