LARRY JAMES De GROOT, age 63, of Luverne, died Sunday, February 17, 2008, at his home. He was born July 25, 1944, in Adrian, to George and Florence (Smeins) De Groot. Larry moved to Luverne as a small child. He attended Luverne schools and graduated from Luverne High School in 1962. He entered the United States Marine Corps. and served his country from 1962 to 1964. Larry worked thirty four years at IBP in Luverne; and six years at Luverne Truck Equipment, in Brandon, before retiring. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. Larry is survived by his wife, Char De Groot, Luverne; two daughters, Lona (Shawn) Hart, Mitchell, SD; and Michele (Mike) Weber, Brookings, SD; five grandchildren; three stepchildren, Michael (Kristee) Hart, Luverne; Scott Hart, Worthington; and Andrea Hart, Pipestone; eight step grandchildren; sister, Vickie (Mike) Sorn, Cambridge; brother, Mel De Groot, Spencer, IA; father-in-law & mother-in-law, John and Gen Vis, Chandler; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, George De Groot.
