LAURETTA M. SCHEIDT, age 94, of Adrian, died Friday, January 23, 2009, at Sanford Adrian Care Center in Adrian. She was born July 27, 1914, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Schmit) Honermann. She grew up and attended school in Olney Township. After her schooling, she worked for various families in the area. Lauretta was united in marriage to Jacob ?Jake? Scheidt on November 24, 1936, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. After marriage they farmed north of Adrian for 40 years. They retired in 1974 and moved into Adrian. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church, a 59 year member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of the CCW. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her trips to the casinos, playing cards, bingo, baking homemade bread and making pan chicken. She also enjoyed her summer weekends at Lake Okoboji. She had a very strong devotion to the rosary. She is survived by four sons, Joe (Elaine) Scheidt, Adrian; Rod (Mary) Scheidt, Adrian; Gene Scheidt, Worthington; Steve (Deb) Scheidt, Worthington; three daughters, Rose (Mike) Lenz, Pomeroy, IA; Katie (Klare) Schroeder, Rapid City, SD; Peg Scheidt, Arcadia, IA; three sisters-in-law, Zelda Scheidt, Lauretta Honermann and Shirley Scheidt and brother-in-law, Norb Scheidt; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jacob, in 2002, 5 sisters, 3 brothers and grandson, Craig Scheidt. Lauretta was the last living member of her immediate family.
