. LaVONNE L. VORTHERMS, age 64, of Worthington, died Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born October 17, 1951, in Worthington, to Joe Jr. and Marie (Balster) Vortherms. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School, in Wilmont, in 1969. She later attended Jackson Area Vocation-Tech. School.
After graduating high school, La Vonne worked at Hoffman Farm Service, in Wilmont, for over nine years. From 1979 to 1995, LaVonne worked as an accountant at Turbes, Drealan & Kuilhaug Accounting in Worthington. She later worked at Worthington TAC.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Pre-School Coordinator, the Social Concerns Committee and volunteered at St. Mary School. She was also a member of the Worthington Diabetic Support Group and the National Association of Mental Illness.
LaVonne enjoyed spending time with family and friends, baking, reading, knitting, board games and helping her siblings and many nieces & nephews with their homework. She also had much pleasure giving gifts to her many nieces & nephews.
LaVonne is survived by her mother, Marie Vortherms, Wilmont; four brothers, Jim Vortherms, Mankato; Larry (Kelly) Vortherms, Eden Prairie; Joe (Jeannie) Vortherms, Dayton, MN; and Dave (Kari) Vortherms, Hastings; three sisters, Joann (Gene) Stolt, Sartell; Diane (Mark) Edwards, Rochester; and Judy (Jim) Griebel, New Ulm; eighteen nieces & nephews; and nine great nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; father, Joe, in 1972; and a nephew, Christopher Edwards, in 1984.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, with Parish Prayers at 7:30 pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. James Calahan & Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont.
