Obituary

LAWRENCE ?LORNIE? JAMES REUTER, age 80, of Luverne, formerly of Kenneth, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the Sanford Medical Center, in Luverne. He was born January 22, 1927, on the family farm south of Lismore, to Peter and Catherine (Schiltz) Reuter. Lornie attended catholic school in Lismore and graduated from St. Anthony Catholic School in 1945. He entered the United States Navy and served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater from 1945 to 1946. Lornie married Esther Probst on May 1, 1950, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. After their marriage, the couple farmed west of Lismore before retiring in 1991. They moved to Luverne on October 15, 2007. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Lismore, where he had served on the parish council; the Knights of Columbus; and the Lismore American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, hunting & especially spending time with his grandchildren. Lornie is survived by his wife, Esther Reuter, Luverne; four children and their spouses, Barbara Loonan, Ft. Worth, TX; Connie & Michael Burkard, Sioux Falls, SD; James & Denise Reuter, Huntsville, AL; and Carolyn ?Cookie? & Joseph Kollmann, Parkston, SD; ten grandchildren, Eric Loonan, Erin (Ryan) Jesionek, Kristi (fianc?, Gabe) Burkard, Kerri (Ryan) DeGraff, Matt Burkard, Emma Reuter, Rhea Reuter, Mark Reuter, Samantha Kollmann & Heather Kollmann; a great grandchild, Catherine Jesionek; brother, Peter (Marcella) Reuter, St. James; sister-in-law, Evelyn Reuter, Lismore; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Reuter; grandson, Nicholas Burkard; son-in-law, Dennis Loonan; and a brother, Clarence. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Sunday, with a rosary service at 5 pm; and parish prayers at 7:30 pm, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Lismore. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, officiated by Roxanne Kemper, Fr. Gerald Kosse & Fr. Thomas Jennings. Burial with full military honors by the Lismore American Legion will be at the St. Anthony Cemetery, in Lismore.
