Lawrence Moerke, age 88, of Annandale, formerly of Dawson and Rushmore, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, Dawson with Pastor Herbert Rotunda officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Dawson and from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dingmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Adrian. Burial will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Rushmore.
Lawrence Moerke was born March 5, 1926 in Wilmont to Jerry and Hattie (Ennenga) Moerke. On January 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Tillie Heronimus at State Line Ebenezer Presbyterian Church near Ellsworth. Lawrence worked as a self-employed dairy farmer in Boone County, Illinois and Rushmore, Minnesota. After retiring from farming, he worked as a supervisor for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association in West Central Minnesota. Lawrence was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dawson and a former member of East Friesland Presbyterian Church of Rushmore; where he sang in the East Friesland Church Quartet for 35 years. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, singing, farming and attending auctions.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Tillie of Annandale; children Glenn (Colleen) Moerke of Pelican Rapids, Brenda Moerke of Salem, SD, Penny Jaskulke of Riverview, FL and Jerri (Greg) Hiniker of Hanover; brother Dennis Moerke of Lake Wilson; grandchildren Megan Moerke, Molly (Ryan) Welch, Taylor Jaskulke and Taryn Jaskulke; and great grandchildren Ellie, Jack and Griffin Welch. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandchild Tyler Jaskulke; brother William Moerke; and sisters Betty Lerch and Dorothy Hieronimus.
The pallbearers will be Taylor Jaskulke, Ryan Welch, Duane Moerke, Paul Heronimus, Bruce Aggen and Elwin Aggen. Florence Gebur will provide the music for the service.
