LEANDER "LEE" BERNARD EICKHOFF, age 92, of Adrian, died Monday, November 7, 2011, at the Adrian Country Living. He was born October 19, 1919, in Greenwald, to Casper and Gertrude (Schweiters) Eickhoff. He graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School; and later attended the St. Cloud School of Business. In 1941, Lee moved to Adrian and began working at the Adrian State Bank. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
Lee married Margaret "Toots" C. Reckers on June 17, 1946, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple lived in Adrian. Lee continued working at the Adrian State Bank. He became President of the bank in 1969. He retired in 1985. Toots died on December 21, 1984.
Lee married Valoris Nelson on August 9, 1986, at St. Adrian Church. The couple lived in Adrian.
He was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; the Knight of Columbus; the Adrian Volunteer Fire Department; the Adrian Lions Club; the Adrian American Legion; and the Luverne VFW; and he received his 50 year award from the Minnesota Bankers Association. He enjoyed golfing, playing gin rummy, cribbage, fishing, hunting and wintering in Mesa, AZ, for over 25 years.
Lee is survived by his wife, Valoris Eickhoff, Adrian; seven children, Bob (Jolene) Eickhoff, Sleepy Eye; Dave (Joyce) Eickhoff, Adrian; Gary (Joyce) Eickhoff, Marshall; Mary (Rick) Johnson, New Hope; Jim (DeeAnn) Eickhoff, Chanhassen; Jane (Martin) Vigil, Denver, CO; and Sue (Jay) Sorensen, Detroit Lakes; two step children, Ron (Shirley) Nelson, Hutchinson, KS; and Laura (Barry) Nicks, Show Low, AZ; twenty three grandchildren, Dawn (Randy) Sellner, Robyn (Dean) Walter, Jamie (Aaron) Schauman, Rachael (Scott) Hieronimus, Jason Eickhoff, Matthew Eickhoff, Chad (Tina) Eickhoff, Shanna (Pat) Nseumen, Andrew Johnson, Paulmer Johnson, Catherine (Brock) Tidstrom, Elizabeth Eickhoff, Adam Eickhoff, Michael Sorensen, Carrie Sorensen, Brian Nelson, Bradley (Kelly) Nelson, Aaron (Heather) Nelson, Michael Nelson, Lindsey Nicks, Sarah Nicks, Amanda (Christopher) Stiphout & Leah Culbertson; many Great Grandchildren; and four sisters, Eleanor Rengel, Elk River; Veronica Sauer, Poplar, MT; Verina Sackry, St. Cloud; and Ramona (Adrian) Praught, Isle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Toots Eickhoff; two brothers, Fabian & Roman Eickhoff; and a sister, Alvina Eickhoff.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday, with parish prayers at 4:15pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Visitation also from 9:30 to 10:15 Thursday morning at the funeral home. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Fr. Thomas Jennings. Burial will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Worthington Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Adrian Church or the Adrian Care Center.
