LENDERT EDWIN NAGEL, age 80, of rural Adrian, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born January 1, 1931, in George, IA, Lyon County, to Eilert and Anna (Huls) Nagel.
Lendert married Darlene Peters on March 31, 1949, at the Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN. After their marriage, the couple worked on different farms in the George area. In 1954, he moved to Enumclaw, WA. There, Lendert worked in the home construction business. In 1964, he purchased the farm north of Adrian where he remained active in the farming operation until his death.
He was a member of the Eastfriesland Church of Christ in Rushmore. He had a passion for farming and also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and golfing. He wintered with Darlene in Alamo, TX for nine years where he made many good friends.
Lendert is survived by four children and their spouses, Jim & Linda Nagel, Sioux Falls, SD; Sally & Bill Foster, Dorchester, TX; Doug & Denise Nagel, Pipestone; Deb & Mark Hodapp, Adrian; nine grandchildren, Dean & Paul Nagel, Amy Dierks, Michelle Tyra, Kristin Foster, Joseph & Jennie Nagel and Nichole & Christopher Hodapp; six great grandchildren, Kara & Mandy Dierks, Colin, Hannalee, Halleigh and Hunter Nagel and one sister-in-law, Lois Nagel, George, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, great granddaughter, Addison Nagel, and his brother, George Nagel.
