LEO E. HANSEN, age 87, of Worthington, died, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Sanford Luverne Hospital. He was born February 20, 1927 in Danbury, IA; to parents Martin and Betty (Bray) Hansen. He attended school in Correctionville, IA. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his nation during World War II. He enlisted on March 10, 1944 and spent two years as a guard on the USS Enterprise in Hawaii and received his honorable discharge on April 11, 1946.
After his discharge he worked for Armour and Company for 37 years. Leo was united in marriage to Beverly Adams in 1952 and to this union two sons were born, James and Jeffrey.
Leo was united in marriage to Mary L. Uhl on September 21, 1970 and made their home in Worthington. He enjoyed watching all sporting events especially the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins.
He was a member of the Worthington VFW Post 3958, American Legion Post 5, Eagles Club 3282 and the Elks Club 2287
Leo is survived by his wife, Mary L. Hansen, Worthington, MN; sons, James (Suzanne) Hansen, Hawarden, IA; and Jeff (Vicki) Hansen, Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren, Kelly (Jon) Haidet, Kyle Hansen, Sarah (Rev. Dan) Ofstehage, Krissy Hansen, Cody Hansen and Nick Hansen; six great grandchildren, Adam Embrock, Elijah & Jeremiah Haidet, Emma & Chloe Ofstehage and Taylor Trimble and four step grandchildren; a brother, Donald Hansen, Sioux City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Karla Embrock, six brothers and four sisters.
