LEON DALE GOEMBEL, age 88, of Magnolia, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. He was born July 28, 1923, in Luverne, to Vernon and Eva (Clark) Goembel.
He loved being a farmer. Leon enjoyed going to McDonald's & Mark Jacobson Implement for coffee & fellowship. He also enjoyed farm sales and he liked to buy & sell equipment. He became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Home in July of 2010.
Leon is survived by his wife, Dorothea Goembel, Luverne; five children, Janice Larson, Beaver Creek; Dale (Judy) Goembel, Bloomington; Kurt (Doris) Goembel, Persia, IA; Bonnie (Arvin) Busse-Reu, Luverne; and Brenda Goembel, Luverne; many grandchildren & great grandchildren; eight step children; and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren & step great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Terri, in May of 2011; step daughter, Michele Perkins, in November of 2011; and two brothers, Gordon & Floyd Goembel.
Funeral will be 2 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Ron Nichols. Visitation will be from noon to 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
