LEONA ANN LONNEMAN, age 89, of Adrian, formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. She was born June 19, 1923, in Westside Township, to Antone and Elizabeth (Weidert) Lonneman. Leona attended country school in Westside Township. She graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School, in 1941, as her class Valedictorian.
Leona was a homemaker for her uncle Lawrence, for over fifty years, on a farm south of Rushmore. In 1992, Leona & Lawrence moved to Worthington where she also was a homemaker. In 2003, she became a resident of the Adrian Health Care Center.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington; and the WCCW. Leona enjoyed playing cards, including 500; visiting with neighbors on the farm, and spending time with her nieces & nephews especially during the family 4th of July picnics.
Leona is survived by her sister, Lorraine Marnach, Sioux Falls, SD; four brothers, Sylvester (Helen) Lonneman, rural Adrian; Anthony (Rita) Lonneman, Adrian; Orville (Elaine) Lonneman, Sioux Falls, SD; and Francis (Suzi) Lonneman, Adrian; sister-in-law, Jean Lonneman, Benson; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antone in 1982 and Elizabeth in 1995; two brothers, Vincent in 2009 and Joseph in 2003; sister, Rita Cook in 2001; uncle, Lawrence in 1995; and two brothers-in-law, Norb Marnach in 1998 & Paul Cook in 2010.
Visitation will be from 3-6 pm Sunday, with parish prayers at 3pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Visitation also from 9:30 to 10:15 am Monday at the funeral home. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at St. Adrian Catholic Church officiated by Frs. Andrew Beerman & Timothy Hall. Burial will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery.
