LEONA MAE STEFFERUD, age 80, of Reading, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at her home. She was born October 26, 1932, in Montevideo, MN to Oscar and Margaret (Erickson) Lindquist. She grew up on a farm by Clarkfield, MN and attended school in Montevideo, MN.
Leona married James Allen Stefferud on July 8, 1952, in Granite Falls, MN. Throughout their marriage, they lived in many places, including Atchison, KS, Clarkfield, MN, California from 1962 – 1969, Erskine, MN from 1969 – 1985, in Worthington, MN until 1988, and then Reading, MN, where she had lived since. Leona worked at Campbell's Soup Company in Worthington and South Shore Care Center.
She was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Reading. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, camping, fishing, watching the Minnesota Twins and her getaways with her sister Shirley and husband Frank.
Leona is survived by her son, James (Amy) Stefferud, Reading, MN; three daughters, Lisa (Bob) Froderman, Reading, MN; Lori (Jamie) Gravenhof, Rushmore, MN; and Lora (Claryn) Van Meekeren, Reading, MN; five grandchildren, Jennifer, James, Dalton, Dawson & Jeremy; two sisters, Shirley (Frank) O'Neil, Worthington; and Janice Nelson, Clarkfield; brother-in-law, Telmer (Joyce) Stefferud, Watertown, SD; and a sister-in-law, Clarice (James) Preston, Alexandria, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James, on May 29, 2002; and a brother, Earl (Beulah) Lindquist.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in Reading, officiated by Rev. Keith Gallagher. Burial will be in the Summit Lake Cemetery in Reading.
