LEROY HERBERT CHESLEY, age 66, of rural Luverne, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at his farm near Luverne. He was born May 17, 1940, in Luverne, to Cecil and Caroline (Price) Chesley. Leroy attended rural district #9 grade school and graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1958. After serving time in the United States National Guard, he attended Mankato State College. Leroy later returned to the family farm as the fifth generation to farm the farms homesteaded in 1872 & 1873. Leroy married Mary Griensewic on December 12, 1964, in Balaton. After their marriage, the couple farmed on the family farm southwest of Luverne. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne, where he served as a Deacon. Leroy was also active in many areas including serving on the Beaver Creek Coop Elevator Board; and the Beaver Creek Township Board. He enjoyed farming and especially spending time with his family. Leroy is survived by his wife, Mary Chesley, rural Luverne; three sons, Dr. Stephan (Dr. Judy) Chesley, Luverne; Nathan Chesley, Luverne; and Jason (Angie) Chesley, Luverne; two daughters, Jennifer (Russ) Kroger, Sioux Falls, SD; and Jessica Chesley, & her fianc?, Jake Schable, Mapleton, IA; two grandchildren, Alexa & Cassandra Chesley; and three sisters, Carol (Lee) Williams, Mankato; Joan Chesley, Luverne; and Ruth (Donald Matt) Kingery, Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
