LILLY SAMMONS, age 87, of Luverne, died Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born January 19, 1933, to Fred and Nina (Crippen) Yarington. She graduated from Slayton High School in 1950. Lilly married Leslie Sammons on September 1, 1951, in Slayton. She enjoyed reading and playing word games. Lilly's grandkids were a big part of her life. She always made a special point to be at their events to watch and cheer them on. Lilly is survived by three children, Donna (Mike)Rank, Faribault MN; Mike (Ronda) Sammons, RoundLake MN; and Michelle Schreier, Currie MN; brother; Harold Decker, Mesa, AZ; twelve grandchildren, Heather Vacura, Josh Klay, Chad Sammons, Angela Sneller, Lindsay Jenniges, Anthony Voss, Ashley Harms, Damien Christensen, Taryn Sammons, Taylor Schreier, McKenna Schreier, and Zachary Schreier; twenty-five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Sammons in 1996; two children, Kristi Baker; and David Sammons; three grandchildren, Shane Klay; Eric Sammons; and Melissa Christensen and son-in-law Paul Schreier. A private family funeral service will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and a public celebration of life will be at a later date.
