LINWOOD ?LIN? GALLAND, age 68, of Worthington, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at the Sunset Cottage in Worthington. He was born on November 6, 1942 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents, Don and Maxine (Chicoine) Galland. Lin moved with his family from Sioux Falls to Flandreau, SD. They later moved to Sibley, IA and then to Worthington in 1959. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1961. After graduating he joined the U.S. Army in July of 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1964. After being discharged he came back to Worthington and joined his father at Worthington Tire Service. In 1989 the business was sold to Jerry Schnyders. Lin then took a job with Worthington Tractor Salvage until taking a position as a crop insurance agent with Home Farmer Mutual. In 1995, Lin started his own agency under the association of The Philips Agency in Jackson, MN. On February 19, 1972, Lin was united in marriage to Nancy Stauffacher in Minneapolis, MN. Lin was active in several civic and community organizations through the years. He was involved with the Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, Blue Jay Booster Club, Fraternity Lodge #101, Worthington Shriners, Oaze Cycle Patrol, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Worthington Country Club, United Methodist Men?s Club and numerous committees of the First United Methodist Church including many years of singing in the choir. Lin is survived by his wife, Nancy Galland, Worthington; daughter, Genevieve (Kevin) Smith, Sioux Falls, SD; son, Louis (Keetha) Galland, Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda Smith; Jordan and Adaelai Galland; mother, Maxine Galland, Mesa, AZ; brother, Roderick (Nancy) Galland, Lead, SD; two sisters, Donna (Mark) Diede, Scottsdale, AZ; and Sheila (Jerome) Schnyders, Worthington; and brother-in-law, Jeff (Susan) Roos, Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Galland and his sister, Cleo Roos.
