Obituary

LOIS MARIE ROGERS, age 88, of Worthington, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. Born in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, to Owen and Esther (Rave) Haak, Lois lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and love for her family and community. She graduated from Trent High School in Trent, SD, and later earned her Associate's Degree from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD. On December 3, 1960, Lois married David Rogers in Dell Rapids. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and hard work, farming first north of Wilmont and later east of Wilmont, where they settled in 1968. In 2021, they moved to the Meadows in Worthington. Lois devoted her career to nursing, serving patients at Slayton Hospital and later at Fauskees Nursing Home in Worthington. Her spirit and caring nature touched many lives. A woman of  faith, Lois was a former member of the Church of the Brethren and a current member of Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Reading. She was actively involved in her community through the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Reading Hilltop Project Club, and the Minnesota Nurses Association. Lois found joy in gardening, canning, crafting, and spending winters in Texas with her husband Dave at their son Glen's home. Her drive and commitment were evident in everything she did. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dave Rogers of Worthington; her children, Brenda Fry of Pierre, SD; Brian (Teresa) Rogers of Wilmont; Bruce (Amy) Rogers of Boston, MA; and Glen (Tammy) Rogers of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren, Sarah Fry, Alexandra (Ross) Fergerson, Jocelyn (Ryan) Haggerty, Sam, Morgan, and Benjamin Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Emerson, Camryn, and Logan Fergerson; four step-grandchildren, Mike (Danielle) Schutz, Travis (Marie) Schutz, Cole Johnson and Andrew Johnson; and sixteen step-great-grandchildren, Devon, Mason, Keyon, Kaylin, Jaron, Jazmine, Nessa, Singh, Shae, Bailey, Bently, Liam and Weslee. She is also survived by her brothers, Gerald (Vivian) Haak of Trent, SD, and Norman (Arlene) Haak of Oaks, ND. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Esther Haak. Lois will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, and her strong commitment to people. She leaves behind a legacy of service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21 at Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Reading, officiated by Pastor Del Bolluyt. Burial will follow at Elk Brethren Cemetery in Reading.
