Obituary

LORENE A. SCHETTLER, age 95, of Worthington, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at her home. She was born July 18, 1920 near Wilmont, MN; to William and Anna (Eystad) Moser. She attended country school at District #84 in the Wilmont/Lismore area. After graduating from the eighth grade she took different jobs helping out in various homes.
Lorene met her future husband, Ray Schettler, at a dance in Wilmont. They became engaged in 1943. Ray was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Lincoln, NE. Lorene moved to Lincoln with a friend and worked at Russell Stover Candy Company.
Lorene was united in marriage to Ray Schettler on May 20, 1944 at the North Chapel  Lincoln Army Air Force Base. Ray was discharged in 1947, and they moved to the Wilmont area and were engaged in farming. They retired in 1977 and moved to Worthington. Ray and Lorene were very proud of the fact that they never worked on their wedding anniversary. This special day was celebrated by fishing with friends for all the 46 years they were married.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington and was a volunteer at the Worthington Hospital Women's Auxiliary and also a member of the Worthington American Legion Auxiliary; and the Worthington Elks. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, bowling, and cooking for her family and friends.
Lorene is survived by her four children, Denny (Barb) Schettler, Wilmont; Dave (June) Schettler, Windom; Deb (Tom) Fitzgerald, Iona; and Doreen Hoffman, Marshall; ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray in 1990; three brothers; and two sisters.  Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington and continue on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington.
The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington with Father Jim Callahan and Deacon Vern Behrends officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Wilmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
