LORRAINE C. WIENEKE, age 88, of Adrian, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born May 11, 1921, in Remsen, IA, to Julius and Ernestine (Gehrens) Wolf. At the age of two, Lorraine?s mother died. Julius married Anastasia Kusser. Lorraine attended school in Remsen, IA. Lorraine married Bernard Wieneke on September 16, 1941, in Adrian. The couple farmed in the rural Adrian area before purchasing the family farm north of Adrian in 1950. In 1979, they retired and moved to Adrian. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; the church choir; the Christian Mothers; the WCCW; the Catholic Daughters; the Gray Ladies; the Adrian Chamber of Commerce; and volunteered for the Historical Society, Nobles County Extension and the Adrian community. She enjoyed cooking, needlework including quilting & sewing, playing cards, numerous fishing trips and vacationing with family and friends. Lorraine is survived by her seven children, Mary Jean (Douglas) Wehr, Worthington; JoAnn (Bruce) Amundson, Worthington; Dale (Mary) Wieneke, Adrian; Richard Wieneke, Minneapolis; Katherine (Douglas) Greve, Worthington; Rosanne (Gene) Wrege, Sioux Falls, SD; and Joe (Jolene Farley) Wieneke, Adrian; daughter-in-law, Sandra Wieneke, Adrian; twenty five grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Emmanuel (Helen) Wolf, Adrian; and Joe (Joanne) Wolf, Adrian; sister, Betty (Melvin) Burkard, Worthington; and two sisters-in-law, Joan Wolf, Clara City; and Josephine Neuheisel, Yankton, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard, in 1987; two sons, Bruce, in 1976; and John, in 2009; granddaughter, Sarah Amundson, in 2003; and three brothers, LeRoy & Roman Wolf; and Bill Neuheisel.
