LOWELL MARLEY CHRISS HAACK, age 86, of Reading, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 20, 1927, in Worthington, to Chriss and Minnie (Lang) Haack. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Ewington and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Jackson. Lowell attended country school east of Worthington. As a youngster, he moved with his family to Petersburg, southeast of Jackson. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1949 serving in Alaska.
Lowell married Gladys Posorske on September 17, 1950, in Round Lake. After their marriage, the couple lived in Jackson where Lowell built bins. They later moved to the Worthington area where they began their farming career. In 1956, the family moved to their current farm northeast of Reading.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, where he had served as an usher and on the church council. Lowell was also a member of the Nobles Coop Oil Board and the ASCS Township Board. He enjoyed driving & riding horses, farming and driving tractors. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Gladys Haack, Reading; six children, Vicky (Richard) Horkey, Westbrook; Randy (Patty) Haack, Worthington; Janine (Greg) Fix, Rochester; Mike (Robin) Haack, Capistrano Beach, CA; Sherrie (Eric) Schield, Castle Rock, CO; and Brenda (Mark Ponchock) Castellano, Auburndale, WI; fifteen grandchildren, Chad (Julie) Horkey, Stacy (Eric) Schettler, Jenny (Chad) Bakke, Pam (Brent) Hogan, Bryce (Melissa) Haack, Kaitlin (Mike) Graff, Nicholas Fix, Michael Fix, Hailey Chisholm, Joshua Schield, Corbin Schield, Hallie Schield, Christian Castellano, Isaac Castellano, and Hannah Castellano; eleven great grandchildren; and a twin sister, Lois Poelaert, Lakefield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin Haack; sister, Reonna Janssen; an infant brother; and a great grandchild, Eli Schettler.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral will be 11 am Tuesday at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. A private family burial will take place at the Summit Lake Cemtery in Reading.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hospice Cottage Inc. of Worthington or the American Lutheran Church in Worthington.
