LUCILLE E. BOOTS, age 91, of Stillwater, formerly of Adrian, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Gathering at Boutwell's in Oak Park Heights. She was born March 22, 1923, in Rushmore, to Bill and Bertha (Peterson) Albers. Lucille was very active in 4-H since the age of eight. She graduated with honors from Adrian High School.
Lucille married Ernest Boots on March 25, 1942, in Tacoma, WA. After Ernie was discharged from the United States Army, the couple farmed in the Rushmore, Worthington, Adrian & Ellsworth areas for thirty three years before moving to Adrian in 1979.
She was an active former member of the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church in Rushmore and the Ladies Aid; a current member of the United Methodist Church in Adrian and the Ladies Aid. Lucille was also a member of the Adrian Senior Citizens. Because of Lucille's 4-H awarding winning experiences in cooking, baking, and sewing, she used all of her skills to keep her husband and family well-fed and sewed for her mother, children, and grandchildren. She delighted in wearing out four sewing machines! She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidering butterflies onto dish towels. She enjoyed baking and won awards with her homemade bread.
Lucille is survived by her two children, Janet (Ron) Larson, Stillwater; and Lester (Ruth) Boots, Rice; three grandsons, Mikel, Donald & Bill Boots; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ernie on July 23, 1998.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Kristie Franken. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
