Obituary

LUCILLE CALKINS, age 95, of Worthington, MN, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born October 7, 1917, in rural Fillmore, MO, to John and Mary (Hummon) Lance.
Lucille married Orville Calkins on October 20, 1938, in Savannah, MO. The couple lived in St. Joseph, MO before being asked to move to Maryville, MO to help out in the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses there, which they did in 1960. In 1999, Lucille moved to Worthington MN, where she was a member of the English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by her two daughters, Nedra (Clifford) Fueston, Worthington; and Sharon (Otto) Wenz, Tekamah, NE; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Marcia, Kenneth, Felicia, Jeffrey & Joda; many great grandchildren; brother, John Darl Lance; and sister, Velma Lance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville, in 1982; daughter Patricia McPhalen, in 2007; a brother, Kenneth; and a sister, Wilma.
SISTER CALKINS was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1941 in Kansas City, beginning a lifetime devoted to service to her Creator, her family, and her community.
During her lifetime, Sister Calkins was privileged to attend a number of historic conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses, including those held in New York City in 1950, 1953 and 1958. In 1984 she attended an invitation-only special program in Coraopolis, PA, commemorating the Centennial of the Watch Tower Society.
Throughout her 71 years of faithful service to her God, Jehovah, Sister Calkins enjoyed a full share in preaching the good news, even being able to spend some time as a pioneer, or full-time evangelizer, during her time in Maryville. She always supported her dear husband in his own service as a hard-working elder, and provided a fine example of Christian living to her spiritual brothers and sisters.
Sister Calkins had an unbreakable faith in Jehovah and His promises. The promise of the resurrection became even more important to her after the untimely passing of her husband, never dimming over time.
Her loved ones look forward to the fulfillment of that promise, and the opportunity to welcome Lucille and Orville back to life on a Paradise earth, and the final fulfillment of Revelation 21:4…

"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry be anymore. The former things have passed away." (Rev. 21:4)
