Lucille Carol Bristol Eads, of Luverne, died April 15, 2015 at the age of 96 years and 11 months in the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills. She was born May 23, 1918 in Bigelow Township, MN to Joseph and Emma (Fenske) Bristol. At the age of 2 years she moved with her parents to Worthington, MN where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1936.
Lucille married Lawrence (Larry) Eads at St. Matthew's parsonage in Worthington on Nov. 10, 1939. They made their home in Beaver Creek after marriage where they owned and operated Eads Garage in partnership with Larry's father Walter Eads. Larry passed away in 1973.
She was a postal clerk for 27 years in Beaver Creek and in 1973 also began working as Village Clerk of Beaver Creek. She retired from that position in 1985. Lucille moved to Luverne in 1984 where she led an active life with many friends participating in card clubs and volunteer activities. In September of 2012, she became a resident of Tuff Village in Hills for two years before her brief stay at Tuff Memorial Home.
Lucille was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Creek. She served as both president and secretary of Presbyterian Women, a Circle Leader and helped with Summer Bible School. She volunteered for senior dining and RSVP in Luverne.
Lucille is survived by three children, daughter Cynthia McDowell, Fruita, CO, son Roger (Jacqueline) Eads, Elgin, IL, and daughter Mary Soulek, Sioux Falls, SD. There are nine grandchildren: Lynda McDowell (Dan Studelska), June (Doug) Green, Wade (Stacy) McDowell, Stacy (Tony) Brallier, Nathan (Jill) Eads, Amber (Kevin) Barnes, Carolyn Soulek, Rachel Soulek, Lauren Soulek and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother Rose Bristol, and her half-sister Helene Heath.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday April 22, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday April 23, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Beaver Creek, officiated by Michael Blank. Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
