LUCILLE MABEL PREUSS, age 94, of Fulda, formerly of Worthington, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She was born September 27, 1918, in Holly Township, rural Cottonwood County, to Herman and Dora (Deutschmann) Vosberg. She attended country school in rural Nobles Co.
Lucille married Elmer Preuss on November 7, 1937, at the Pfingsten Lutheran Church in rural Fulda. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Indian Lake Township; near Heron Lake; and later near Brewster, before retiring and moving to Worthington in the late 1960's. After moving to Worthington, they bought a motor home and spent many hours fishing & camping. She became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home on June 1, 2009.
She was a homemaker as well as a store clerk. Lucille also had waitressing jobs as well. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Lucille also enjoyed spending her free time bowling on a bowling league. She loved traveling and visited almost all of the fifty states, the World's Fair in Vancouver, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia which were her longest trips.
Lucille is survived by her three children, Vonnie (Harold) Rutgers, Brewster; Larry (Irma) Preuss, Worthington; and Barbara (Chuck) Rucks, Kaukauna, WI; six grandchildren, Brian Rutgers, Nancy (Kevin) Lonneman, Dawn (Bruce) Nelson, Jeffrey (Norma) Preuss, Paul (Kelly) Preuss, and Jason Preuss; ten great grandchildren, Andrew & Nate Lonneman, Travis (Jackie) Nelson, Jessica (Jake) Hofer, Tyler Nelson, and Chelsey, Jordan, Michael, Makayla & Dominic Preuss; five great great grandchildren, Miley, Ashtyn & Keegan Nelson, and Abigail & Kennady Hofer; brother, Jim (Jean) Vosberg, Loveland, CO; and three sisters, Mildred Oldham, Worthington; Violet Whitlow, South Bend, IN; and June (Rick) Winter, Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, in October of 1982; brother, Raymond Vosberg; and two sisters, Viola Rehborg & Gladys Anderson.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A memorial service will be 10:30 am Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. LeRoy Christoffels. A private family burial will precede the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
