LUELLA ROSE WIENEKE HENNING, age 96, of Mankato, formerly of Adrian, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Brookdale Community Center in Mankato. She was born March 31, 1919, in Dewald Township, rural Rushmore, to Fred and Caroline (Kutzboch) Marotzke. Luella grew up on the family farm and attended country school near Rushmore. She later worked as a Nurses Aid.
Luella married Alfred Wieneke on November 21, 1942, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Kenneth. Alfred died on September 14, 1975.
Luella married Ervin Henning in July of 1986, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. They lived in Adrian. Ervin died on December 31, 2001. Luella moved to Mankato to be close to her family.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, and a former member St. Adrian Catholic Church; and the WCCW. She enjoyed sewing, hand work, caring for her grandchildren and she loved to bake.
Luella is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Jay) Ryan, Mankato; daughter-in-law, Diana Wieneke, North Mankato; five grandchildren, Darwin (Tennelle) Wieneke, Dominic (Ari) Wieneke, Donna (Mike) Fischer, Corinne (Errol) Seymour and Tosca (Dennis Baker) Ryan; three great grandchildren, Kiera, Roland & Skai; and three step great grandchildren, Alexa, Taylor & Ryley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; son, Daryl, in 1997; three brothers, Norman Lester & LeRoy Marotzke; and three sisters, Helen Preuss, Emily Lenz & Mabel Lenz.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 am Thursday at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Thursday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Fr. Andrew Beerman. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery, in Lismore, after the funeral lunch.
