Obituary

Mabel L. Jensen, age 88, of Worthington, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born July 28, 1922 in Rushmore, MN to Brown and Alva (Peters) Kannengiesser. She attended rural school and Adrian High School graduating in 1938. She attended Mankato Teacher College. She was a teacher in Nobles County rural schools and also Wilmont Public School. Mabel continued her education and teaching career after raising a family. She graduated from Mankato State University and was a teacher at Brewster Elementary School. Mabel married Herluf Jensen on Oct 19, 1946. They farmed in rural Fulda, MN. In 1988 they moved to Worthington to enjoy retirement. Mabel was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church serving as PWA president, Sunday School Teacher, and Circle Chairman for 20 years. She and Herluf enjoyed traveling in the 50 states and several countries. She also loved flower gardening and was an active member of Worthington Garden Club. She also enjoyed painting, macram?, sewing and reading. Mabel had a heart of gold and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experiences with family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Herluf Jensen, Worthington; two children, Marie (Charlie) Goebel, Stillwater and Sharyl (Greg) Zeno, Rosemount; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lloyd, brother, Loran (Ruth) Kannengiesser; and a nephew, Larry Kannengiesser.
