MARCELLA LEONA HURLBURT, age 88, of Worthington, died, Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born August 7, 1927 in Cannon Falls, MN; to parents Hans and Mabel (Sandie) Hove. She was proud to say she was baptized, confirmed and married by the same pastor in her hometown church. She attended country school in rural Cannon Falls. After her schooling she worked as a waitress in Red Wing, MN.
Marcella was united in marriage to LeRoy Hurlburt on December 10, 1945 in Cannon Falls. The couple lived in various cities including Winona, Red Wing and Lakefield. They moved to Worthington in 1967.
In 1970, she started a home daycare. She continued for many years and was always known as Grandma Marcy. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. She enjoyed traveling, watching car racing, watching her soap operas, baking and cooking, doing garage sales, making homemade treats for her family, decorating for the holidays and going to Michael's Steak House. She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
Marcy is survived by her children, Dennis Hurlburt, Sioux Falls, Dick (Debbie) Hurlburt, Sioux Falls, Diane (Steve) DeGroot, Worthington, Nancy Prochaska, Sioux Falls, Pat (Jeff) Klumper, Sioux Falls, Mike (Sheila) Hurlburt, Worthington, and Mary (Larry) Harsma, Worthington; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter and a sister JoAnn (John) Bach, Bay City, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy on March 16, 2012, daughter Shannon Briggs and her son-in-law Richard Briggs, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington and continue on Wednesday from 10 to 11 am at American Lutheran Church in Worthington.
The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at American Lutheran Church in Worthington with Pastor Bailey Fossum officiating. Burial will be at Worthington Cemetery.
