Obituary

MARGARET "MARGIE" MARIE WIENEKE, age 95, of Lismore, died Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Adrian Country Living Estates. She was born July 16, 1929, in Adrian to Joseph and Ella (Weidert) Kellen. She graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School in 1947. She worked in the Dietary Dept. at the Arnold Memorial Hospital in Adrian and as a domestic helper. Margie married Donald Wieneke on October 3, 1950, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. The couple farmed north of Adrian where they raised their eight children. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore, the Catholic Daughters of America for 47 years, and the CCW. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and spending time with her family. Margie especially loved the annual Wieneke family  campout on the farm for the past thirty-one years. Everyone looked forward to her famous chocolate chip cookies. She loved cheering on her Minnesota Vikings & Twins teams. Margaret is survived by her six children: Mary (Gene) Metz, Lismore; Tom (Sharon) Wieneke, Jackson; Dean Wieneke, Lismore, (friend Lezlee); Debra (Joe) Kristoff, Marshall; Alan (Rita) Wieneke, Redwood Falls; and Jan (Ray) Konz, Brandon, SD; Justine Tobin (Jeff's fiance), Brandon, SD;  Bert Winrich, (friend of Elaine), Jackson; seventeen grandchildren: Michael (Nicole) Metz, Jeanine (Mark) Bonderson, Janelle (Chris) McAlear, Bryan Metz, Patrick (Kaisa) Wieneke, Maria (Matt) Bezdicek, Joseph (Leanna) Kristoff, Samuel (Katie) Kristoff, Carla (fiancé, Patrick) Kristoff, Matthew (Ashley) Kristoff, Sara (Scott) Kodet, Erik (Andrea) Wieneke, Theresa (Steven) Schmitz, Julie (Matt) Murphy, Emily Konz, Trevor (Megan) Tobin and Tessa (Hunter) Rowe; thirty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Sieve. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, on Sept. 13, 1993; daughter, Elaine Wieneke in 2011; son, Jeff in 2019; three brothers: Raphael, Raymond and Joe Kellen and three sisters: Ida Sheffler, Sr. Joanna Kellen and  Sr. Louise Kellen.

Margie's wisdom, positivity and love will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday, Sept. 9 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. Visitation will also  be  one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Lismore, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials are preferred to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the Catholic Daughters of America.
