MARIAN GRACE JACOBS, age 83, of Rushmore, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the Dougherty Hospice House, in Sioux Falls, SD, after a short battle with cancer. She was born March 27, 1927, in rural Rushmore, to George and Bertha (Rients) Alberts. Marian was raised on a farm in rural Rushmore where she also attended country school. On January 6, 1948, Marian was united in marriage to George Jacobs. They farmed and raised their family in the rural Rushmore area. In 1980, they retired from farming and moved into Rushmore. George died in August of 1988. Marian enjoyed her neighborhood very much, spending time with close friends and relatives that lived nearby. She was also thankful for the fellowship and friendship of her church family. She was an active member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, in Rushmore, serving as an Elder and also as the President of the Ladies Aid Association. Marian was the foundation of the family, always ready to lend a helping hand with a project or share the wonderful food from her kitchen. Those who will cherish her always are her son, Jerry (Bobbi) Jacobs, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Brenda (Roy) Lindokken, Sibley, IA; four grandchildren, Stacey (Bill) Lenker, Sioux Falls, SD; Jodi (Jason) Hammers, Sioux Falls, SD; Mara Lindokken, Vermillion, SD; and Seth Lindokken, Storm Lake, IA; four great grandchildren, Jacob and Sara Lenker, Sioux Falls, SD; and Jayden & Jaci Hammers, Sioux Falls, SD; and a brother, Marvin (Darlene) Alberts, Rushmore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; and a brother, Arnold. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, south of Rushmore, officiated by Revs. Calvin Hsu & David Poppen. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Cemetery south of Rushmore. The family will direct memorials to the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore; and the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
